Barnes Charitable Trust

The Barnes Charitable Trust was set up in 1991 under the terms of the will of the late John Barnes, who for many years was the owner of Earnseat School.

New Trustees

We are very pleased to welcome a new trustee to the Trust. He is Basil Herwald.

Resignations

It is with regret that the Trust has recently had to accept the resignations of two valued trustees.

Grants

The Trust made a grant of £ 500 to the Arnside Parish Plan Trust towards the repair of the footpath behind The Common. The APPT have collected enough to cover the cost of the first half of the path which has now been repaired. The Trust is making a further contribution of £ 100 for the second phase which is scheduled for later in the summer.

Upkeep

The War Memorial, commemorating all those from Earnseat School who lost their lives defending their country in the First and Second World Wars has recently been restored. The Trustees felt this was fitting in 2014, just one hundred years after the start of World War I.
